Asus ROG Phone II Tencent Gaming Edition preorders exceed 2 million units
As we reported earlier this week, the Asus ROG Phone II is finally here and it is already available for preorders in China. Only in the first 24 hours, more than 2 million units of the Tencent Gaming Edition of the phone were preordered. Indeed, this particular edition of the gaming smartphone is full of Tencent apps and services, but it is almost half the price of the bloat-free base model so it’s no wonder that customers jumped on the chance. More than 2 million gamers chose to preorder the handset for only 3,499 Yuan, which roughly translates into $510. The price of the bloat-free model is around $875, so the price difference might actually be worth some extra apps and services to work around.
The Asus ROG Phone II is indubitably one of the best gaming phones available right now. It is the first one to come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset on board, and it has a 120Hz display that will turn gaming into a really cool experience. The handset has a really cool, rugged design, and it has all the power one could wish for from a gaming smartphone. The device comes in several storage variants, including 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB internal storage. The device features a 6,000mAh battery which can reportedly ensure up to six hours of continuous gaming when set to 60Hz, and a little less when users enjoy the 120Hz refresh rate it can offer.
The upcoming Xiaomi Black Shark 2 also promises to be a cool gaming phone, but it will have to be pretty impressive in order to be able to dethrone the Asus ROG Phone II, especially if we consider the Tencent Gaming Edition’s price tag too. Unfortunately, outside China users will most likely not have the possibility to get their hands on the handset for such a low price. Even with the normal retail price of the device, it will probably be a great success as it has all the ingredients it needs in order to ensure great user experience.
