Huawei Mate X not coming this month after all
Foldable phones are finally a thing as of this year. Samsung finally launched its Galaxy Fold device, after a few years of teasing the world with the promise of it, and other manufacturers started to line up too with their foldable devices. Unfortunately, it seems like the Samsung Galaxy Fold did not turn out to be just as great as the tech giant promised, and now it seems that the Huawei Mate X is also delayed. Huawei should have launched its foldable handset in June, however, according to the latest reports, the event will only take place in September.
A spokesperson of Huawei told CNBC that the delay is due to the fact that the company is conducting more tests on the foldable phone and they need more time to complete them then they anticipated. According to the same source, Huawei decided to conduct these tests in the wake of the problems Samsung encountered with their foldable gadget back in April, when reviewers got to test the device and it turned out that the foldable screen can’t really resist too much without breaking. It’s not clear whether Huawei had the same problem or they are just eager to prevent a similar fiasco.
The Huawei Mate X will cost around 2,299 euros or roughly $2,600, so it’s only normal that the Chinese company won’t release it before it makes sure that everything is all right and the foldable device is able to deliver the experience customers pay this much for. It is better to have a slight delay than to deliver a device which isn’t ready. With this delay, Huawei got another couple of weeks to solve all the issues users could encounter when using the Huawei Mate X. Hopefully, the foldable device will be as amazing as everyone expects it to be.
