Xiaomi Mi 9S 5G coming in September with SD 855 Plus on board
Every major smartphone manufacturer already launched or is currently working on a 5G device. Xiaomi’s next handset of this kind is most likely the Xiaomi Mi 9S 5G, which recently turned up on TENAA, showing off some of its specs and features. Thanks to the listing, now we also know what the handset will look lie and we must admit it is quite nice and modern- looking. While knowing what an upcoming smartphone will look like is always nice, the listing also reveals that the device will house the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. The listing doesn’t clearly specify the chipset model, but it does state that the SoC will have a clock speed of 2.956GHz, which definitely points towards the new Qualcomm processor.
Other specs of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 9S 5G, according to the TENAA listing include a thicker body than the one of the Xiaomi Mi 9, more weight, and a larger, 4,000mAh battery. The Mi 9S 5G is mainly a 5G version of the previously launched Xiaomi Mi 9, however, as you can see, there are some differences between the two devices, besides the 5G capability. The 6.39-inch display with FHD resolution remains the same, just like the camera setup, consisting of a 48MP sensor, a 12MP one, and a 16MP sensor on the back. On the front, users will find the same 20MP selfie camera.
As for the memory and storage options, it seems that the Xiaomi Mi 9S 5G will become available in three memory and storage variants. The base model will include 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage, while the other models will include 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB internal storage. Unfortunately, the microSD card slot is still gone, so users won’t have the possibility to add any extra storage, and the audio jack is still missing too.
According to sources, Xiaomi is preparing to launch its 5G handset sometime in September. Unless the company is working on another 5G device, it will probably be the Xiaomi Mi 9S 5G. It might have another name outside China after all, but we will have to wait for its global launch to know for sure.
